Auto-Disable Syringes: A Permanent Solution to Reuse
Auto-Disable Syringes: A Permanent Solution to Reuse

Injection therapy is an important means and method in clinical treatment, and syringes are the most widely used instruments for injection therapy. Ordinary syringes face a series of problems in clinical use, such as the possibility of reuse, accidental needle sticks injuring medical staff, and inconvenient disposal after use. With this automatic disable syringe, we no longer need to expend effort to destroy it. As technology advances, the quality of automatic disable syringes is increasingly recognized in clinical settings.

Clinical characteristics of the automatic disable syringe

  • Integrated needle and syringe: The injection needle is directly fixed on the syringe body, avoiding issues like leakage, needle replacement for reuse, and needles remaining in the body.

  • Self-destruct after use, completely avoiding the possibility of reuse, thus preventing cross-infection caused by injection.

  • Easy to operate, maximally protecting the safety of medical staff and patients during operation, completely eliminating the threat of needle-stick infections, truly achieving safe injection.

  • Consistent with the operating habits of traditional syringes, achieving "safe injection," simple and convenient.

  • Simplifies the disposal process of used syringes for medical staff, reducing pollution and the incidence of needle-stick injuries.

The automatic disable syringe's specific structure

This syringe mainly comprises a hollow outer sleeve and a plunger that can slide inside the sleeve. The structure that truly enables its self-destruct function is the cleverly designed, integrally molded plunger. Let's first understand the two parts of the plunger.

As shown in the figure, at the needle tip of the syringe, there are elastic support claws (11) inside the conical head of the front section of the sleeve (i.e., needle tip); at the same position, the plunger is equipped with hooks (21) and a conical platform (22), integrally molded with the hooks. This structure allows the hooks to latch onto the elastic support claws, preventing the plunger from retracting once the injection is completed.

Another ingenious structure is located in the middle of the plunger, also integrally molded, but featuring four weak points referred to as break points (27). These break points connect the two parts of the plunger: the support frame (25) and the support frame (26), forming two gaps in the diagram: the top gap (28) and the bottom gap (29).

The working principle of the automatic disable syringe

Before use, the hooks are not positioned within the elastic support claws, and the break points remain intact. During the injection process, each break point on the plunger bears uniform force and deforms within its range. The convex end of the support base contacts the concave top end of the support frame, and the convex top end of the support frame contacts the concave bottom end of the support frame, preventing premature breakage during liquid injection. After the injection, the hooks are held in place by the elastic support claws, fixing the top end of the plunger. When the plunger is pulled back, it breaks at the break points, thereby preventing reuse and achieving the purpose of self-destruction.

This innovative automatic disable syringe addresses the issues of complex structures, difficult mold creation, intricate processing technology, and high mold costs in the production of highly precise medical devices, providing convenience for the production of medical devices.
